The Canadian Paper Trail

It seems that Jess over at The Canadian Paper Trail has had a flood at her home and has been unable to post today. Sorry for any inconvenience.

I am featured today at http://thecanadianpapertrail.blogspot.com/ . Each day a Canadian craft blog is featured. Tomorrow is my daughter Amanda http://bellascraftycreations.blogspot.com/ . The theme is Back to School or End of Summer.

I decided to try something I have been wanting to try for some time and that is vinyl. As I don't have children in school I thought about the older student or teacher with a laptop and I decorated my daughters laptop.

First I laid everything out on Design Studio so I could figure out how much vinyl I needed without wasting it. All cuts were cut at either 2" or 2 1/2". The blade was set at 4 so it would cut the vinyl but not the backing. The pressure and speed were set at medium. I used transfer tape for the "Inspire" cut and placed it over the piece of vinyl and rubbed it. Just the cut stuck to the transfer tape when I pulled it up. For the other cuts I just peeled them off the sheet and stuck them on the laptop, just be careful because it is very easy for it to stick to itself.

The cuts that I used are Inspire from Home Accents, the nightie from Sweethearts, the shoes from Wedding solutions cart(I cut 2 shoes, 1 was flipped using DS), the popsicle from Doodlecharms and the cupcake from Home Decor.

The flower and the hearts are cut using SU punches.

Throwback Thursday--Princess

This week for Emma's Throwback Thursday challenge at http://www.creativetimeforme.com/
is to use the Tinkerbell cartridge and the theme is Princesses. I don't have the Tinkerbell cartridge or any Disney cartridges for that matter, so I used PDDU.
I just got in my first order from Custom Crops and they sell Liquid Applique. I have been looking everywhere for this and finally I found it. If you don't know what Liquid Applique is it can be used on fabric or paper and you heat it with your heat gun and it puffs up for a 3D effects. I bought it in pink, white and orange. I used it on the dress on this card for like a ruffle effect.
Supplies:
Paper: Chocolate Chip cs, Melon Mambo cs (SU), patterned paper (DCWV) and assorted scraps
Stamps: Taggers Dozen (retired SU), Everyday Face Assortment (Peachy Keen)
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Melon Mambo (SU) White & black pens (Marvy)
Punches: Scalloped circle punches (EK Success)
Embellishments: Liquid Applique (Marvy)

Morning Cup

This is a new stamp set that I got from SU. I love coffee, coffee art work and coffee stamps. I have also been watching some copic marker videos and learning some techniques. I only have three purple copics so far, that I got a couple of weeks ago. The purples didn't go with my card so I thought I would try doing some shading with my SU markers and I'm really pleased with how it turned out.
Supplies:
Paper: Dusty Durango, Taken with Teal, Very Vanilla cs (SU) and Sweet Pea DSP (SU)
Stamps: Morning Cup (SU)
Ink: Timber Brown (StazOn), Assorted Stampin Write Markers (SU)
Punches: Modern Label, Word Window (SU)
Embellishments: Dusty Durango Ribbon (SU), Bronze Vintage Brad (SU)

Michael's Haul

My daughter Amanda http://bellascraftycreations.blogspot.com/ and I went to Michael's yesterday afternoon. We don't have one in our town but the nearest one is only about 1/2 hr away.
This is what I bought. This MS album was on clearance for $7.99 (Canadian), I am going to use it for my wedding pictures. I just got married last year and I haven't started a scrapbook yet.

The Cuttlebug folders were 40% off and I got Floral fantasy. This Michael's finally got some new folders in. They have had the same 4 folders for a year now. I needed a new white gelly roll pen and thought I would try the Studio G stickles.

My name is Kerry and I am a paperholic. That is the first step, right? Now I have to start letting go and use it. The paper stacks were on sale for $14.99, which is very rare here. I bought lots in the states for $11.99 which was awesome. I spent last night just looking through the stacks and oohing and aahing. My husband was getting a little sick of "look at how cute this is".

I finally got the MS Drippy Goo punch. Just in time for Halloween and some googly eyes for the monters.

I did buy one Christmas present too. So it wasn't all for me. It isn't in the photo though.

Throwback Thursday Challenge

This weeks challenge over at Emma's blog http://www.creativetimeforme.com/ is "Frame It", using the PDDU cartridge. It took me a while to come up with something for this challenge. Finally I decided on the shield(I think it's a shield) on page 51. I cut it out twice, once in red and once in white and I used the center of the white one. I ran the red one through the cuttlebug using the Square Lattice embossing folder from SU.

Supplies:
Paper: Red (MS), White (Georgian Pacific) and patterned paper (SU)
Stamps: Happy Moments (SU)
Ink: Stampin Write Markers (SU), Tuxedo Black (Memento)
Ribbon: Red (Wal-Mart)

Throwback Thursday Challenge

Emma's challenge this week over at http://www.creativetimeforme.com/ is to use the Paisley cartridge. Much to my dismay I do not have this cartridge (yet). The theme is back to school. This week I decided to do post it note holder for the teachers desk. As I do not have the cartridge I used Plantin SchoolBook for the apple. The apple was cut at 2" on Roly Poly. I cut it out 3 times, once in red, once in brown and once in green and then cut the stem and the leaf. I also folded the leaf in half and put it through my crimper before I attached it. I wrapped ribbon around the picture frame and used glue dots to hold it in place so I could hook the pen on it.

Supplies:
Paper: Sweet Stack (DCWV), and red, green and brown scraps
Acrylic 4" x 6"picture frame (dollar store), mini gel pens (dollar store)
post it notes (staples)
Ribbon: pink (Wal-Mart)
Stamps: Peachy Keen Everyday Face Assortment, Apple -Tart & Tangy (SU)
Ink: Real Red, Chocolate Chip and Glorious Green Markers (SU), Memento Tuxedo Black and White signo uni-ball pen

Boys will be Boys

My newest project from the B is for Boy lite cartridge is a scrapbook layout. I am really trying to get back into scrapbooking. When I was on my shopping trip I bought some scrapbooks and one is for a boy, so I am going to work on filling it with pages to maybe give away. I got this awesome paper at my LSS (which isn't so local), it has trains and dump truck on it. I cut it into strips to make borders. I used the B is for Boy cartridge to cut Boys will be Boys at 4", the train at 2 1/2" and the dump truck at 3". The little dump truck is cut with a cuttlebug die.
I also am pleased to announce that I finally got an ATG Gun. I love it.

Supplies:
Paper: Red (MS), Black (Recollections), Transportation paper (Best Creations Inc), assorted colours (SU scraps)
Embellishments: Buttons (Joanne's), Pop Dots

Back to School Blog Hop

Welcome to our Back to School Blog Hop, grab your coffee and get comfy. I am so honoured to be apart of this blog hop with these amazing ladies. If you just came from Trish's blog at http://onethirdchicklet.blogspot.com/ your on the right track. If you just happened upon my blog you can start the blog hop with our host Sarah at http://pinkcricut.com/ . There are amazing projects and blog candy along the way. We have a sponsor who has donated a prize, http://www.memorymiser.com/ has donated a Happy Hauntings cricut cartridge, as well as some other surprises from the bloggers themselves.
The project that I made is for the older student or teacher in you life. I altered a notebook, clipboard, notepad, binder clip(photo holder) and XL paper clip(bookmark).
My first item was the notebook. I measured my notebook and cut my paper to fit. I don't have an ATG gun (yet) so I decided to use my new Aqua Mono adhesive by Tombow. I DO NOT suggest this. It was too wet, I used my brayer to get rid of the bubbles but my covers did warp a little bit. I picked a coordinating strip of paper and used my MS zig zag punch along both edges. The word notes was cut from Plantin Schoolbook at 1 1/4" in the same DCWV paper as used on the notebook and the shadow was cut using Melon Mambo from SU.
My second item is the clipboard. I cut out a template using a piece of cardboard. I just traced the clipboard and cut out the notch for the clip a little at a time until it fit. I then traced this onto the paper and cut it out. I decided to use Elmers spray adhesive for this project. It worked great. I don't know how you ladies manage filming your videos. I was trying to attach this by holding the clip down with one hand and stick the paper with the other hand. With my hands full I had to tap on the window with my foot to get my DH attention to come outside and help me. It was so much easier when he held the clip down and I positioned the paper. So I do suggest having a helper for this part. I used a sponge sanding block from my DH around the edges.

I used the XL flower punch from SU to punch 5 flowers from the DCWV paper and an EK Success 1 1/4" scalloped circle from Pink Pirouette (SU). The "K" is from Plantin Schoolbook. I used the Aqua mono adhesive to attach these. The photo holder and the bookmark have the flowers on both side of the clips.
For the notepad I cut a piece of the DCWV paper to fit the top of the notepad and used my glue glider pro to attach it and I stamped every page with the purse stamp from Stampin Bella.

For the photo holder I measured the width of the clip and cut a strip of the DCWV paper, started to wrap it around and trimmed to fit. I attached with the glue glider pro.

The photo holder and the bookmark were so super easy to make and took no time at all. They would be great to make for a craft sale.
This is what I started with.

These are the supplies I used.

Now on to the blog candy. I am giving away a paper stack, a stamp set, paper piercers and googly eyes. All you have to do is leave a comment on this post and make sure you leave a way to get a hold of you if you win. You don't have to become a follower but I always love to get new friends. You have until Sunday August 8th at midnight to enter. I will do the draw on Monday morning. The next blog on this journey is Tangee at http://kricutkrazy.com/ . She is giving away great blog candy so make sure to stop by and check out her project.
